Anabel Vázquez Rodríguez comes to LA GALERÍA as an independent curator and community arts organizer with an international focus. Focusing and prioritizing on the Latino community and its diaspora, she will connect the richness of Latino Arts with the increasingly diverse audiences of Villa Victoria and Greater Boston. We are looking forward to her fresh perspective and new energy in our programming and exhibitions.

As a founder of the innovative Esprit De Corps Art Collective, she has been curating and producing multi-media events in the Boston underground since 2002. More recently, founding the curatorial collective DiscordiaFilms, an exciting international art exchange focusing on experimental video between artists throughout the Americas. She has programmed and produced events in Puerto Rico, Spain, Argentina, and Chile.

Vázquez Rodríguez studied Painting in the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras and Photography and Film at The Massachusetts College of Art and Design. As a native puertorriqueña, Anabel is honored and thrilled to be part of Villa Victoria Center for the Arts and IBA.

LA GALERÍA is now accepting portfolio submissions for solo and group exhibitions of contemporary art for its 2011-2012 season. Participating artists will be selected by LA GALERÍA’s Curator. Artists working in any number of mediums are eligible and encouraged to apply; suggested mediums include painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, digital media, video, new media and installation. Exhibitions will be scheduled between August 2011 and June 2012.
